OBJECTIVE:
To obtain the position of Frontend Software Engineer. Willing to work onsite or remotely.

PROGRAMMING EXPERIENCE:
I have been an Individual Contributer as well as a team Tech Lead. Extensive frontend experience with Javascript, Typescript, HTML, CSS, and Java.

WORK HISTORY:
Frontend Software Engineer at Google
Aug 20, 2012 - July 20, 2022
Developed the frontend for Google Play Music, Geo Imagery, Security Investigation Tool (for Google Cloud), G3 Console, Search Ads, and TS/JS Libraries.

Notable projects while at Google:

  • Geo Imagery Viewer:
Developed the code that displays photos, interactive panoramic imagery, and videos for the businesses that Google displays (in both Google Search results, and on Google Maps). Started out as an individual contributor on the team, doing a complete code rewrite/replacement for the original viewer on the mobile web. Ended up as the Tech Lead for the team, and added support for tabs and categories for the photos, along with support for uploading and displaying videos for businesses and other imagery types.

Frontend Software Engineer at IBM
Sep 28, 1998 - Aug 6, 2008
Designed Java demonstrations for the sales team to showcase the capabilities of IBM Tivoli software. The demonstrations were more reliable and had a smaller footprint than the enterprise software that they modeled, and they were able to simulate complex network issues that Tivoli was designed to manage.

Notable projects while at IBM:

  • Statistics Gathering Server:
Developed a server application that collected information on how often our applications were used. When a user launched any of our products, the client code silently reported back information such as the operating system, time zone, and country. The server compiled the data and displayed it through several customized reports (Eg: showing how many people in each country used a specific demo in a given month).
  • Planet Tivoli Kiosk:
Developed a kiosk that was used by attendees of the Planet Tivoli conferences. The application displayed the conference sessions, and allowed the user to customize their schedule of sessions (stored in a database). Schedules could be printed and synchronized to the user's PDA calendar. The kiosk also provided an integrated web browser, as well as a custom email application. (This was prior to the era where laptops and smartphones were commonplace and there were free web email solutions.)
  • Web Crawler:
Developed a tool that reverse engineered web sites. From a starting URL it automatically fetched and built a local copy of the web site, along with all the supporting files. The tool was used by our team to assist in building demonstrations of various IBM products.
