Either black sand or coffee grounds...

We're a happy group at the bakery

Big waves at South Point

Flying a kite - lots of wind!

Green Sand Beach

Well, greener than any other sand we've seen before, in any case

Mom and I took a bird watching tour and saw some i'iwi's and other amazing birds

I had an easier time taking photos of bird watchers instead of the birds themselves!

A royal heiau in Kona

Makalawena Beach - worth the hike!

It's a honu world

Ancient totems at Pu'uhonua O Honaunau (Place of Refuge) National Historical Park

Rare Hawaiian simian

How did this get here?

Waimea sculpture

Finally, a glimpse of the Hawaiian nene geese! We searched all over the island and finally found them on a green at the Big Island Country Club

Above Waipi'o Valley

We went on an adventure hike into this valley

It was difficult to get a good shot of these really-high walls

But it was easy to take a bath

Three weeks together and we're still on good terms - a successful trip!

Thank you to Carmen and her family for their Big Island Hospitality!
